1 Cutting Carpet Basic Steps
When installing HAVEN onto carpet, you have to create 6 holes in the carpet and then drill through the foam and padding into the subfloor beneath.
Center unit on door and lay unit on carpet.
Take Carpet knife, and slowly cut the carpet in the shape of the HAVEN. Be careful and go slowly. Cut a little bit under the lock and inside of the lock's outline. It is better to leave extra carpet so the unit fits snugly on the inside of the outline you are cutting. Once the outline is cut, remove the carpet slowly to avoid any ripping or tearing outside the cut area.
Remove any foam or padding. The goal is to get down to the subfloor so HAVEN can be installed into the most secure part of the floor.
Once all the padding and foam is removed, clean the area thoroughly.
Now it is time to drill your pilot holes. Choose your floor type for instructions on how to drill pilot holes and mount your HAVEN lock.
