Step 2: Prepare surface and mount
-
1Clean the mounting surface with alcohol
Prepare the surface where the item will be mounted with isopropyl rubbing alcohol. A clean, dry surface is required in order for parts to stick properly. Alcohol removes contaminants and evaporates quickly without damaging surfaces.
NOTE: This install method is optimized for wood floors or any smooth, consistent surface like polished concrete or tile.
-
2Attach the tape to the bottom of your HAVEN.
With a Phillips head screwdriver, remove the cover from the HAVEN Lock gate by unscrewing four scews on front of the gate.
Clean the underside of the HAVEN with the same alcohol used on the floor and allow it to evaporate so the surface is clean of any debri, and dry.
Pull away a corner of the tape template and line it up with the matching corner of the lock.
Slowly pull the backing down while pressing the tape against the HAVEN as you slowly expose the adhesive side to the the back of the lock. Do this all the way down until the backing is completely removed and the adhesive is fully covering the back of the lock.
NOTE: DO not remove the backing from the other side of the tape template until ready to attach to the floor.
-
3Drill pilot holes
The tape install requires a minimum of two mounting screws be used in order to maximize the strength and integrity of the lock.
To drill pilot holes for your specific floor type, use the appropriate advanced tutorial below:
- Creating pilot holes in hardwood floor (most common)
- Creating pilot holes in tile floor
- Creating pilot holes in vinyl/laminate floor
- Creating pilot holes in concrete floor (only smooth concrete floor are recommended)
-
4Place Your HAVEN
Remove the remaining backing from the bottom of your HAVEN, exposing the adhesive side. Using your center mark from the last step and lining up your drilled pilot holes, use the provided barrier template to place the HAVEN on the floor and press and hold it for 20-30 seconds, evenly pressing down from end to end to ensure consistent contact with the floor.*
NOTE: Allow the HAVEN to cure for up to 72 hours without any agitation to ensure the adhesive provides the maximum hold!
